Stroke Rehabilitation

Overview

A stroke can change a person’s life in an instant, affecting movement, speech, swallowing, cognition, and emotional well-being. Timely, intensive rehabilitation is the single most important factor in how much function a patient regains. Cambridge Hospital runs a structured post-stroke pathway that begins as soon as a patient is medically stable, progressing through inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, and home care follow-up. Our programme combines gait and balance training, repetitive task-specific exercises, speech and language therapy, swallowing assessments, and occupational therapy. With family education integrated throughout so that gains made in the clinic carry over into daily life.
