Overview
Post-acute care is short-term, time-limited inpatient rehabilitation for patients who are recovering from a stable acute illness or injury. At Cambridge Hospital, it supports people after stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, major surgery, road traffic accidents, and other acute events that affect mobility, function, and independence.
Care is delivered by an interdisciplinary team — physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists — working side by side along one structured pathway. Through individualised care plans and measurable rehabilitation goals, we aim to build self-sufficiency, reduce the impact of impairment, and help each patient return to normal or near-normal function as fully and as quickly as possible.
