Our post-acute care gives children the treatment they need alongside physical and mental health therapy, supporting recovery, comfort, and confidence.
Depending on each child’s needs, post-acute care may be delivered across different settings, for shorter or longer periods:
- In-hospital post-acute care — for children with special health care needs or recovering from major surgery or treatment, with continuous supervision
- Pediatric rehabilitation — short-term or long-term, for children experiencing significant pain, trauma, or long-term illness, helping reduce the impact of chronic conditions
- Residential pediatric care — short-term or long-term care for children recovering from major surgery, undergoing long-term treatment, or living with permanent disabilities
Care is tailored to each child and may include:
- Physiotherapy
- Psychological / psychiatry therapy
- Therapeutic exercises
- Medication management
- Teaching coping mechanisms and self-management skills
With consistent, professional post-acute care, many children experience real improvements — reduced pain, better physical function, lower anxiety and improved emotional wellbeing, better sleep, and stronger coping and social interaction.
Steady recovery can also mean fewer post-surgical complications and less need for re-hospitalization.
Care facilities matter just as much for children as for adults.
If your child is recovering from a serious illness, injury, or major surgery, or living with a long-term condition, our pediatric post-acute care teams are here to support your child’s recovery and your family at every stage of the journey.
